Adopted by Prudential Real Estate in the U.S. in 1991 as their Charity of choice, Prudential affiliates in Canada were successful in getting Sunshine Kids registered as a Canadian Charity in 2004.

Canadian Kids had been going on the "trips" arranged by the American Sunshine Kids for many years.  Four Canadian Hospitals are actively participating in the program.,they are IWK Healthcare in Halifax. N.S. Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario In Ottawa, Ont. The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Ont. & British Columbia Children's Hospital in Vancouver B.C.To be a participant in the program the Hospitals must have an oncology department.

Offices from Prudential from Coast to Coast are coming on board as the Foundation grows.  We are a long way from achieving the 2.3 million dollars that our American counterparts raised last year, but were able to pay the way for our Kids to go on trips in 2009 to Steamboat Springs, Colorado, a Summer Broadway Break, 2 trips to Texas Hill Country as well as a Haunted Hallowe'en Getaway to New Orleans.  Already in 2010 Vancouver Kids have enjoyed in early June Texas Hill Country, obviously very popular. Direct monetary donations were made to the 4 Hospitals Oncology Departments to be used for research into Childrens cancer, as well as the purchase of items like Computerized IV Smart pumps and the latest in Call & Alert systems, at the same time equipping Childrens Cancer Patient "retreats", where the latest in Audio and Video equipment could be enjoyed in a Non-Hospital environment.
